Caring for Someone with Dementia
“I feel more confident tackling issues which affect myself and my mother.”
“It was great to be able to see other carers and listen to their situations. It was a real tonic.”Feedback from carers who have attended our training
This course is designed to help support you and give you tips and information for caring for someone with Dementia. It’s also an opportunity for you to hear from people in the same situation. You will learn a lot from each other – and your experiences might help others, too. Each session will have a mix of information, interviews with experienced family carers, and breakout groups to discuss issues.
- Week 1 – What is Dementia? – symptoms and underlying brain damage
- Week 2 – As Dementia Advances – managing behaviours that challenge, personal care, and planning for the future
- Week 3 – Supporting You to Care – self-care and services that can help
- Week 4 – Welfare benefits and legal issues
- Week 5 – Living well with Dementia (communication and activities to enjoy together)
For more information or to book on, email email@example.com or call our office on 0161 226 7186.
