Volunteer with Together Dementia Support
A few hours a week changing lives
Thank you for your interest in volunteering here with us at Together Dementia Support - we're really grateful to anybody who wants to help us make a difference. Please do have a read of the volunteering roles we have on offer.
At the moment, we are only recruiting for the following volunteering roles:
-
Volunteer Minibus Companions
-
Together at Home Volunteers
-
Dementia Cafe Volunteers
Volunteering is a rewarding and fulfilling way to make a difference in your local community.
Without volunteers, we wouldn't be able to deliver the vital support desperately needed across Manchester and Trafford to enable people to live positively with Dementia.
We have a variety of roles available across our services that suit all levels of skill and experience.

Available Roles
Volunteer Minibus Escort
Could you support our minibus drivers onboard our two lovely minibuses, helping to pick-up and drop-off members before and after groups each week? You'll be their first and last contact with TDS each week, so if you can offer a chatty nature, positive attitude and big smile - then this could be for you.
Together at Home Volunteer
Together at Home is our 1:1 befriending service for people who are unable to attend our groups. It's a little more laid back and relaxed compared to our groups, so if you'd enjoy offering support and creative activities to somebody living at home, and you're able to commit to a 1.5 hour visit every week or fortnight - this could be the role for you.
Dementia Café Volunteer
Dementia Cafés are an opportunity for carers of people living with dementia to socialise and share experiences.
Carers are able to share their concerns and get advice from visiting Dementia Support Advisors and Admiral Nurses over a cup of tea, while volunteers help their cared-for person with dementia with fun, creative activities.
Monday Group Volunteer
Could you support our Monday Moss Side Group, 1:30 - 3:0pm, each Monday? You'll be chatting with members, helping out with activities such as arts & crafts, music and social exercises. There is a different theme every week - and even a few trips out!
If you thrive in a group setting, then this could be for you.
Walk & Talk Volunteer
Can you support our Walk & Talk Group - 11am until 12:30pm every Wednesday in Alexandra Park? You'll be supporting and chatting with members as you take a short walk around the park, followed by a quiz, chat and hot drink in the cafe. If you thrive in a group setting, and love the outdoors, then this could be for you.
Wednesday Group Volunteer
Could you support our East Manchester Friendship & Activity Group, 1 - 3pm each Wednesday? You'll be chatting with members, helping out with activities such as arts & crafts, music and social exercises. There is a different theme every week - and even a few trips out!
If you thrive in a group setting, then this could be for you.
Friday Group Volunteer
Can you support our North Manchester Group - 10:30am until 2pm each Friday? You'll be chatting with members, helping out with activities such as arts & crafts, music and social exercises. There is a different theme every week - and even a few trips out!
If you thrive in a group setting, then this could be for you.
Music Champion
Our Music Champions help us bring the joy of music to people living with dementia by helping to run our weekly Music Cafés. Music Champions don't need any prior musical experiences - between us and our friends at Manchester Camerata, you'll receive all the training you need! So whether you're tone deaf, or a whizz with scales and arpeggios, this could be the role for you!
Admin Volunteers
This is an office or home-based role, depending on your skills, experience, preference and availability. You don't need any prior experience of working with people living with dementia, but you will need to confident using a computer - particularly Microsoft Office packages. We always need a helping hand with administration, communications, social media and all manner of back-office duties!

"Volunteering with Together Dementia Support is so fulfilling.
You get so much out of it, meet some amazing people, and you see week in week out the difference you are making to people's lives."
~ Anne, Lead Volunteer (Trafford Group)
