Volunteer with Together Dementia Support

We're more than just a team of volunteers. We are friends.

Volunteering is a rewarding and fulfilling way to make a difference in your local community.

Without volunteers, TDS wouldn't be able to deliver the vital support desperately needed across Manchester and Trafford to enable people to live positively with Dementia.

You get so much out of it, meet some amazing people, and you see week in week out the difference you are making to people's lives."

Together Dementia Support's Volunteering Programme offers a rewarding opportunity for new volunteers to make a positive impact in the lives of people living with dementia. As a volunteer, you will have the chance to make new friends, gain experience, and enhance your CV while making a difference in your community.

Our comprehensive training programme, available both online and face to face, will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to provide quality support to people with dementia and their carers.

You will also receive ongoing support and guidance from our experienced team of staff and volunteers, and have the opportunity to meet and connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for making a difference.

For students, we can also offer a Certificate of Volunteering that shows all the training, hours of volunteering, and extra experience you undertook while with us to help boost your CV or University application.

Role Descriptions

Group
Volunteers

Group volunteers assist in the running of our groups, helping out with activities such as arts and crafts, music and social exercises etc.

If you want to come along, get to know some new people and take part in some fun activities, this may be the role for you.

Service Volunteers

Service volunteers are volunteers who wish to support the service in other ways, such as providing administrative support or help with marketing and communications.

If you have skills you think we'd find useful, get in touch!

Together at Home Volunteers

Together at Home is our service for people who are unable to attend our group-based delivery.

Volunteers will be matched with a person living with Dementia and their carer and given training so that they can visit once a week to do some fun, social, creative, music-based or gentle exercise activities.

If you would prefer to work 1:1 instead of in a group, please get in touch.

Volunteer Driver

If you are an experienced driver and would like to help out in your local community, why not volunteer to drive our Torneo or minibus? People in your local area depend on the transport we provide in order to get to groups and access vital support.

We also offer driving roles as a paid role. Please see our Current Vacancies page.

Fundraising Volunteers

Do you have a fundraising idea? Want to hold a race night at your local pub or do a bucket collection at your local supermarket? Could you help out an open day or be a marshal for one of our walks?

Become part of our fundraising team and help raise funds for our various services.

Lead
Volunteers

Lead Volunteers take part in our group sessions and have extra responsibilities, such as leading activities, helping set up, and feeding back to the Charity regarding groups.

Lead Volunteer positions are only available to people who are already part of our group volunteer pool.

Dementia Café Volunteers

Dementia Cafes are a great opportunity for carers of people living with Dementia to socialise and share their experiences.

Whilst the carers are able to get massages, share their concerns and gain advice from our Carer Support Leader and admiral nurses, our volunteers are a helping hand on the opposite side of the room for the people living with dementia.
