A Joyful Day at The Lowry with the Levenshulme Group

Our Levenshulme friendship and activity group recently enjoyed a wonderful day out at The Lowry in Salford Quays - a visit filled with art, conversation, and community connection.

Accessible, Supportive and Full of Smiles

The trip began with an accessible journey in the Together Dementia Support minibus. With support from our dedicated volunteers, everyone arrived safely and excited for what was to come.

After a warm welcome at The Lowry, we gathered inside for a picnic lunch, discussed Lowry's depictions of Manchester and Salford, and reminisced about how the city looked and felt in the past. The atmosphere was full of anticipation as we prepared to explore the life and art of L.S. Lowry!

Exploring the Life and Work of L.S. Lowry

Inside the gallery, our group was immersed in Lowry’s world. From his famous street scenes to early pencil sketches and personal moments from his life, the exhibition sparked stories and reflections among our members.

The timeline of Lowry’s life, displayed on the walls and floor, guided us through his artistic journey. For many of our members, the paintings evoked memories of Manchester’s industrial past.

Lowry’s art opened the door to rich conversations and personal memories. This is what makes trips like this so valuable.

Volunteers Who Made it Happen

We were joined by some of our fantastic regular volunteers and four corporate volunteers from NatWest Group: Hadia, Shivani, Deepa, and Bhanu who offered support, kindness, and enthusiasm throughout the day. From pushing wheelchairs to engaging in thoughtful chats about the art, their presence truly made a difference.

After the exhibition, we gathered outside the building to take a group photo, full of smiles!
