At Together Dementia Support, we’re always inspired by the people who go the extra mile to support people affected by dementia. One of those people is Vicky Brown.
Vicky has been on a deeply personal journey after losing her Dad to dementia. Determined to make a difference, she set herself the goal of raising £5,000 for dementia charities before turning 50. That challenge has already taken her on an Ultra Walk and even a skydive – but now, she’s gearing up for her biggest adventure yet.
We’re incredibly proud to share Vicky’s story in her own words:
“When we were on the dementia journey with my Dad it was apparent early on the varying levels of support available to dementia sufferers and their loved ones dependent on where they live. It was during this journey that I set myself the goal to raise £5000 for dementia charities before I turn 50. I completed an Ultra Walk as my Dad’s condition deteriorated and after he passed away I convinced my husband to do a skydive with me. I have previously raised money for Dementia UK as our dementia journey would have been very different for our family if they had access to an admiral nurse. Whilst promoting and circulating Dave’s Legacy this year I was introduced to Together Dementia Support (TDS) which is a fantastic charity supporting dementia sufferers and their loved ones in my local area which was also my Dad’s birthplace. Having a charity like TDS accessible for my Mum and Dad would have made a huge difference to their journey and together with the enthusiasm and support they have shown me towards Dave’s Legacy this has made me determined to raise as money as possible to support such a special charity close to my heart. On the 28th June this year I have set my biggest challenge to date and I will be taking to the skies again but this time I will be stepping outside of the plane and completing a wing walk both in memory of Dad and also to help and support current and future dementia sufferers and their loved ones.”

Vicky’s passion and determination are making a real difference, not just by raising vital funds, but by helping to shine a light on the need for local, accessible dementia support.
